What’s New at Simply Social Work

Simply Social Work has had a lot of changes over the past year, and so today’s blog is going to give a quick overview of what we’ve been working on, introduce you to a new face you may have noticed, and share what the future holds for us!

We’ve Expanded!

If you’ve been checking out the website lately (which I highly recommend you do, because it’s constantly updated!), you may have noticed an unfamiliar (or familiar, if you’ve been following along long enough) face and a new division of the practice. I am so excited to have Rob Pepper join me in providing online, evidence-based psychotherapy in Ontario.

Rob is a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), and you can learn all about him here. When Rob and I started to bounce around the idea of working together, it was a mixture of excitement and nervousness. To open up your own practice is one thing – but to take on someone else so soon? But Rob is not only a wonderful practitioner that I respect as a colleague, but someone I immensely value as a friend. We both knew that it was absolutely the right move for each of us, and, more importantly, for the people we want to serve.

We have a new Instagram page, Simplicity, to showcase all of our therapy services and therapists, as well as continue to raise awareness and create community for an even wider variety of folks, needs, interests, and topics. But don’t worry, Simply Social Work isn’t going anywhere!  You can still follow me there for ADHD, caregiving, and disability content.

I’ve Finished My MSW!

After a year of hard work, I am proud to officially say that I’ve completed my health-focused MSW at Renison University College (affiliated with the University of Waterloo) in August. I thoroughly enjoyed challenging myself and learning with fellow social workers as we continued to develop as professionals. I am especially grateful for the opportunity I had to engage in important research about care/work, disability, and neurodiversity, and am so excited to be continuing on as a Research Assistant (RA). Thank you to my clients, colleagues, friends, and family for their patience and support as I did my best to balance full-time grad school with my work at Simply Social Work.

What’s Next

Rob will continue to be available for weekly psychotherapy and grief counselling appointments online. You will also continue to see him on Simplicity sharing information, tips, and thoughts on mental health, trauma, narcissism, grief, and therapy.

I will also continue to be available for psychotherapy, counseling, and case management weekly. While I’m not finished with academia yet, I’ll be taking some time away from that area of my professional development to focus on my clients and my practice (except for some exciting research that I’m still involved in). You’ll also see me on some special media appearances in the near future, so stay tuned for more information on that!

Both social media platforms, Simply Social Work and Simplicity, will see more consistent short-video (Reels and Shorts) and photo (grid and carousel) content moving forwards. I’m also going to be reviving the Simply Social Work YouTube channel with more reaction and education videos. If you have a topic request or recommendation, comment here or send me an email! And finally, we will of course continue to share information and resources here on the blog as well, so be sure to check back regularly for new posts.
