Robert Pepper (He/Him)

Rob’s therapy style is centered on careful & active listening to hear your story, understanding your concerns, and noting conscious and unconscious processes which have you feeling stuck. He will help you narrow down your concerns to a workable set of problems for him to co-create a treatment plan with you. Some issues that Rob commonly helps people with are depression, dissociation, trauma & PTSD, grief and loss, narcissism and narcissistic abuse, and workplace stress and anxiety. As a former high school teacher, Rob also focuses on helping teachers cope & manage stress and anxiety that comes with this demanding career.

Therapy Methods

Rob’s approaches to psychotherapy are all evidence-based, including: Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), or are informed by Internal Family Systems Theory (IFS). Psychodynamic therapy starts in the past to get an understanding of how, why, and when defense mechanisms and ways of relating to other people have developed in the context of the family, environment and the broader society. This is designed to help you understand your entire story which aims to give insight into how you’ve become stuck. CBT and DBT are similar in that they start with your common thinking and behaving patterns, and are designed to help you change those patterns by aligning with the evidence in the here and now.

*Rob’s last day at Simply Social Work will be on May 15, 2024. If you are a new client and would like to book with him, you can find him here.
